"Eureka! I spot a new trend girlfriend..." but it's nothing to do with politic
What can you say about Malaysian 2008 General Election campaign trend? Can you spot any differences in the way the competing parties run their campaign? Where does the trend moving? In this post, I’m not going to reveal anything shocking about the campaign trend for the coming general election in March. Just some notes about the usual thing.
If I were to write a short note on what’s going on in our pre-General Election scenario, I’ll write this: There’s nothing new.
That’s what really going on in our the local political campaign. But why I’m writing this in the Internet Marketing and Resale Rights blog of mine?
Honestly, because general election now, is a HOT topic and hot topic gets attention. Attention online means traffic. I can always use more traffic and more traffic is good for business.
But that’s not the main point. What I’m more interested in is what the trend is showing, why it has not change and how it might have change. So lets get started with what the coming general election campaign trend is currently showing.
Current General Election Campaign Trend.
The current Government is manipulating the mass media: the print and the electronic media to the MAX. The message is broadcast daily, every few minutes apart in all Government controlled radio and TV. Plus big full page print-out in all major newspapers.
It has been like that from the day I knew political campaign and propaganda and I believe it will continue for years to come.
Sometimes I think they just follow one of the ‘dark’ principles of advertising that says,“Truths are just lies repeated daily.”
So what’s left for the oppositions? The way I see it, the odds are stack against them and while they’re complaining about such ‘injustice’, the Government are busying themselves making the Law Of Average works for them. Why the law of average?
The opposition is using the ‘conventional’ campaign method: posters, banners, flyers, flags and bla, bla, bla. Now, think about it. How many times a voters, a typical voter, sees and pays attention to the traditional campaign stuff? Compare that to how many times he or she listen to the radio or watch TV and move by the message.
That’s what I meant by the Government is making the Law Of Average works for them.
Why This Trend Has Not Change Yet?
Simple.
There’s no reason to. Even in the midst of the MOST heated crisis took place for example religious cult, consumer goods price crisis and fuel crisis, with the might of the Media, the Government still survive doing what they do best–making the Law of Average works for them.
Like I what I implied before, ‘truths are nothing but lies told frequently.’
How The Campaign Trend Might Have Change?
Oddly enough, the direction of the campaign trend and the way of its conduct depends heavily on the level of voters intelligent. The more intelligent the voters are, the ‘healthier’ and more meaningful an election campaign will be.
If the day does arrive, there will be no more manipulation of the ‘herd’ using mass media, so on and so forth.
Voters will vote base on their deep understanding and interpretation of data which consist of facts and figures.
The campaign trend might have change if we, the voters CHANGE. The voters must change for the trend to change, in that order.
If you read until this line, you might have your own opinion with regards to Malaysian 2008 General Election campaign trend. Whatever your observation is, from your stand-point, it’s valid and meaningful and of course, before we can move to a better and healthier campaign trend, we need to make ourselves better and healthier.
Just my thought.
