This Zero Dollar Marketing e mail poped into my Inbox just now and Todd Gross send it. It goes something like this:
Hey
It has been a long time since I’ve sent an invitation to my subscribers to become a “JV Partner” of mine.
I have a launch this morning of Zero Dollar Marketing, and would like to invite you to promote this hot selling Clickbank product.
There is an enormous prize package, and you can easily win one of the prizes. All the details are here
I admit that I was attracted to the price more than the product itself but then I realized something and scurried away to check it out. What is it?
I’m still obsessed with using seo to make more profit online and I saw this as an opportunity to test what I’ve learned. Not that I want to gain the Top Search Engine Page Results position in an instant, even though that’s really desirable but I want to see the immediate effect of putting my knowledge to ‘good’ use.
And you can COPY it later of course…
Copy exactly the steps I’m about to share with you here. Each and every step of the way baby. Lets start with the first (and the most important) step:
1. Check the pitch page. This is the frst thing that I did after I read the e mail from Todd (I’ll introduce you to him some other time. I only know him by his name). When you check the pitch page, in this case the Zero Dollar Marketing salespage, ask yourself, “Is this something I want others to know about? Is this reputable? Is it good for me to let others know?” Your answer should be a resounding YES! No Um, Ahh or Maybe.
2. Check the niche i.e. keywords this product is targeting. I ALMOST opened up my Adwords account to do this when it occurred to me that there’s little advantage for doing so. Why? Since I’m not going to promote this and I’m not doing PPC or pay per click campaign, looking at the keywords have little or no impact. Even if I’m taking the natural way to bring this to you i.e. SEO (search engine optimization), I simply short cut everything and decide to use the product name ‘Zero Dollar Marketing’ as a keyword I’m targeting.
Plain and simple.
What I’m saying here is, you don’t need to do this if you don’t want to. But one check you MUST do…
3. Check for the competition. First you type the seach term zero dollar marketing (without quote. Exactly like that) and see how many page returns. At the time I checked this (April 19th 2009, 6.00 am my local time), I saw 270,000 pages. I believe most of it are affiliate pages.
The top page was of course “zerodollarmarketing.net”.
Followed by its Clickbank affiliate page.
And one goliath.ecnext.com
…and so on.
But you want to know what the best part is?
At this point of time, even the main site has only 1 Inlink. Yup! One link pointing back to it! Ditto with the other affiliate page. It’s a surprise that these people ignored the importance of having the backlink because…
I can surpassed them with simple SEO strategy anytime, a true Zero Dollar Marketing style
I really mean anytime, like a few seconds from now (or right after I finished writing this and my post is ‘ping’ by the ping services).
Lets stop and think about it. What does zero dollar means? Downright it means free, no cost, costless, payless (for me at least). But bare in mind, any marketing method that’s no cost, free or things like that had a high workload attached to it.
Take it from me. I’m doing it right now. And if you think checking for the competition, the niche/keywords, and writing optimize post like this is ‘work-free’, think again. It involves lots of work and effort. Marketing is lot of work. I do that as a day job. And looks like I don’t have enough of it so that’s why I go and deliberately look for it online (lol!)
My impression on zero dollar marketing sales page
Now, if you ever read Harvey Segal Ultimate SuperTips, and his subsequent e books Clickbank Affiliate Supertips, one consideration that an affiliate must make when evealuating a merchant sales page is sign-up form. Immediately I see one on this sales page and that means…
The merchant can sign up your prospect, do the follow up and make commission for themselves, bypassing you along the way. I take this as a red flag but maybe there’s a system in place where they can track the customers that I send to them.
I don’t know. That’s one BIG assumption, and I might be wrong.
And that’s why there’s no Zero Dollars Marketing review by me
Nah! I’m not going to review this product. In fact, I’ve stop reviewing many product recommended by Todd lately. Why? Well, maybe I got bored. Maybe I feel that there are too many reviews of products which I myself did not have time to try them out.
And I’m definitely not going to review zero dollar marketing here…
I won’t put up something which I believe you are tired of reading (because I am) like, “Hey, a friend of mine Todd Gross has bla, bla, bla…” I say we cut the crap and get back to real business. The real deal. If you are looking for marketing with no cost or no money involve then search engine optimization is the way to go.
You get traffic organically by searchers who type in the keywords and found you via the Search Engines be it Yahoo!, Google, MSN, ASK, etc.
That my friend is Zero Dollar Marketing at its best.

Hi, interesting post. I have been thinking about this topic,so thanks for posting. I’ll definitely be subscribing to your blog.
As a newbie, I have absolutely no idea if your giving this a thumbs up or a thumbs down!!
Where on earth, can I find clear and concise, step by step instructions, directing me to make money online? I have sent for, and read alot and it seems that each article I read contradicts the last. Zero Dollar Marketing appeals to me for 2 reasons…First of all it does lay out a step by step system, and secondly I am a very visual person, and watching a video helps alot more than reading boring material. I was hoping ZDM is “the one” , but Im looking for positive reviews first, or will decline based on negative reviews. I really find neither. If anyone has a solid, proven system that they recommend based on experience, please let me know..Im dying to make a go of this but need big time help…thank you Marlene !!!
Hey there Marlene! Glad you drop by and more glad to read your feedback.
Ok here’s the thing…
My write up for that post is not actually endorsing ZDM. If you re-read the fine print, it’s actually my effort to get my visitors curious and maybe, I hoping a bit there, they’ll click to the sales page and join the program.
That’s in other words, a blatant affiliate promotion.
And A bad one too since I got you confused.
Now, let’s put that out of the way but if you must know, I don’t really endorsed this…
And for Newbies, my take is always the same – read the Ultimate SuperTips by Harvey Segal first to get a clearer picture what to do to make money online.
This one won’t confuse you.
I PERSONALLY guarantee it.
Hope this help…and yes, I’m open for discussion. Just ask.
