I won’t bother you with the specific percentage and figure but it’s enough to say it’s well in the high 7 figures sale and the percentage difference is double digit.

And that was way back in 1998 when the economy is in its winter!

You see, the idea of closing the sales stem from the logic that ‘closing is what YOU [sales person] do to prospect’. In reality, closing is a complex process that took place in the prospect mind and you have no control over it whatsoever. You think you have but you don’t…

… And Dr. Gleeson had challenged a group of sales persons during his presentation to prove to him that scientifically, a sales person can influence a closing of sales. He even offer cash reward but nobody take the challenge.

Now, if you’re in that presentation, would you step forward and claim the reward? Will you be able to? After selling for over a decade now, I’m not that sure I’m up to the challenge. Why? Because the evidence is non-existence.

The difference in the whole process can be summarized as the difference between ’sold’ and ‘bought’. If you sell something, I truly believe you want your prospect to ‘buy’ from you not you ’sell’ them. Besides, which is easier — they buy or you sell?

Can you spot the difference?

There’s specific action you can take to make sure your customer end up buying from you thus making you the sale without having to close. When the customers buy, they buy because they want to.

In all honesty, the whole concept of ’selling without closing’ might sound revolutionary for you but in hindsight it makes a lot of sense. This concept is originated from the point of view that decision making comes from thinking, and thinking is about perception. Most error in judgment is not the error of thinking but perception. What determine the perception is the filter you use to create it or as Dr. Gleeson called it ’software’.

In the past few years, with the help of the Internet, FOREX trading and the awareness of FOREX trading has become all the rage. Banks are the number one source for FOREX trading to take place, where a trained and licensed broker is going to complete transactions and

I have the opportunity to mentor and coach 4 Team Members during my tenure as a Sales Manager for a pharmaceutical company. Setting career goals is what we do consistently — at least twice a year [compulsory for job evaluation]. I know that the hard copy of the worksheet I used back then is copyrighted but I do think there are too much to fill in and could be confusing at times. So I’ve decided to come up with a simpler version for you herein.

If you start this exercise at 8 in the morning, you’ll finish before you can say ‘cat in the hat.’ It’s that fast…

Here’s the Simplified Version for Setting Your Career Goal:

1) On 3 separate pieces of paper [Excell, etc.], write on top of each one:

• Attitude
• Knowledge
• Skill

*These 3 things are important because they are the bedrock for ‘competency’ — the only issue that matters in your career*

2) Now, take turn, 10 minutes each, and fill the paper with the related achievements you’re inspired to. For example, under Attitude, you put ‘perseverance — I want to be someone who keep doing something until it’s successful’. Keep filling this up until 10 minutes is off. Then move on.

3) Once you have three sheets of paper filled with ‘achievements’ you’re inspired to, put a timeline next to them. Your time unit can be in months or years. For example, ‘Perseverance — I want to be someone who keep doing something until it’s successful [1 year]‘ . Do the same for all goals.

4) When you got that one finish, rank the goals in the order of time frame with the shortest time frame on top like so:

• Perseverance – keep doing until succeed [1 year]
• Courage – go as far as I can with all I have [2 years]
• Wise – clear distinction for what’s working and what’s not [3 years]

5) Go ahead and choose your TOP one year goal(s).

6) Under each goal, come up with at least 3 ways you can constantly do to achieve that goal. For example: under ‘perseverance’ you put:

• Appoint a buddy to remind me of what I have to achieve
• Develop a tracking system for my project
• Read my ‘to-do’ list four times a day

Honestly, I could have oversimplified this whole issue but I believe a confused mind will further drift from execution, which is the single most important ingredient to turn intangible goal to concrete result.

If you sincerely want to have a better career prospect then taking the time to finish this exercise will pay you handsomely in due time. But let me warn you: starting this exercise is one thing; take it all the way to finish line is another. But for the sake of your career, put everything you got into this career goal setting worksheet.

‘Excellence is in Execution’

I’ve been climbing the corporate ladder for more than a decade now. I’ve changed company 3 times, and I have experienced different rank — from executive to managerial. And I have experienced different industry and market too. Even with that, I admit I still have not ’seen all, done all.’ For instance I had no experience whatsoever working in the Government Sector.

But I did went out to investigate. To top it all, I’m married to a lady who work with the Government so I pretty much have good ideas what it’s like working there. Of course, there’s no substitute for doing a real government job to understand the gravity of the situation.

My observation has lead me to a single conclusion: There’s no significant difference between what people want to achieve in the Private or Government sector thus leading me to believe that the career path is almost similar.

Workers for both sectors generally want better job rank and better financial reward.

What Type Of Career Goal Setting Exist?

Basically, there are 3 types of goal:

• Short term (month to 1 year)
• Medium (1 year to 5 year)
• Long term goal (5 years and beyond)

Characteristic Of a Goal

Some of you are already familiar with these but if this is your first time, check this character against your current or planned objective (goal):

1. Specific. Your goal statement i.e. what you want to achieve is best lay out in details. For example, instead of saying, “I wan to own a car” you are better off saying, “I want a BMW 3 Series 2010 Model!”
2. Measurable. You have a clear idea how to keep track of your goal progress. Take it as having a personal log.
3. Attainable. This is self explanatory. You aim for something you know YOU can control; not someone else. It’s not like somebody has to do something before you can achieve your goal.
4. Realistic. You can glaze to the sky but keep both feet firmly on the ground — that’s what it means.
5. Time Bound. Have a clear time frame to work this goal and bring it to fruition.

My experience tells me that these characteristics are not carved in stone so allow room for slight maneuver.  There’s no guarantee that your career path is going to be a straight one, and in a rigid time line. Change will take place so be prepared to move along.

In all honesty, your career goal setting is an invaluable tools that works wonders for your working career. I know this because that was what it brings to my career. And when you’re a lot adventurous, for example wanting to be on your own, the blueprint for doing just that remains the same.

2. You register with affiliate network for example Clickbank and use the power of affiliate to promote the product. This method is a killer with digital product.
3. And the preferred way to sell online is by means of direct response websites. These are sites that are created to sell a single product — be it digital or physical. If there were more than one product, you can consider using a shopping cart.

Ebay.com.my is an auction site. It lists items which people can bid or buy online, similar to mudah.my — well, part of it anyway. It recently allows transaction with Paypal which may or may not take that site to the next level.

I say this because I’m not really sure about Malaysian acceptance of online transaction. ‘Tangible’ cash is still the MOST preferred mode of payment over here.

Added online payment security with Paypal does not seems to add value to the users [perceived value]. What the heck! On to the next site…

Lelong .com.my is the ‘grandfather’ of auction site for this part of town. Maybe there are websites which exist and carry out the same function but they did not stands out — at least for me they were!

Plus, you can get many things which applies to you locally at lelong and this site is quite popular. But how the hell Mudah surpass it? It’s not so much of a mystery if you asked me.

So there you have it — other website like mudah.com and if this is your chosen method to making money online, I salute you already. Why? I don’t have the perseverance to keep up with the customers support and delivery.
