And since there is no visible clear law for selling on personal basis, it is open to manipulation, but that of course, is a matter of personal opinion.

Guess what? While we are still on the subject, why not allow me to share with you some of the law I abide to while being a sales person for slightly over a decade. I have to warn you though; this is MY law and feels free to adopt it where you see fit.

My Personal Selling Law

1) Keep it open. It was after two years of working that I come across a very interesting selling concept: never close the sales. And I applied it to every facet of my selling process with amazing results, which makes me a great believer in it. I know that this warrant further explanation but for now, keep the channel open.

2) Relationship sells. In fact, I will go as far as to say that sales tactics have lost its effectiveness in recent years. If you want more sales, ironically, you need to sell YOU, and not product or service. When potential buyers buy into you, they will stick with you no matter what the situation is.

3) Creativity always wins over competitive. I discover this later in my career and it has huge impact to the way I see selling is. No longer have I harbored the thought: “If I don’t close now, I’ll lose forever, or the pie is too small for every one of us!” We live in abundance and there is enough sales to go around.

4) It is worth more knowing something about your customer than knowing everything about your product. This is a wisdom introduced by Harvey McKay. In my humble opinion, this is a true gem.

There are others which I have discovered over the years thorough experience mostly, but the ones listed are the big ones. They are a few important things that take care of other small things, and they are personal selling law worth considering. What do you think?

And recently, the right to the whole course, and branding I guess, what bought by another internet marketer; Russell Brunson. I gather that it is important to fund his way to London Olympic as he prepared to represent America in wrestling.

What is the Formula?

I remember listening to a teleseminar by Armand Morin; well; actually it is a pre-sales call where he featured an interview with Frank. Therein, they talked about how Kern got started, what he discovered and what he will be covering during the Big Seminar event…

… And yeah! Listeners at that time the call was made I presume, was told that they are doomed if they miss the seminar. I can almost guarantee that because something about sales pitch is not going to change forever!

And Kern did touch on the Underachiever Formula.

Frank told the story about his involvement with internet marketing, after he failed in epic proportion with offline sales. He said he sold credit card machine door-to-door…

One day he taught to himself, “There MUST be a better way to build this business than getting doors after doors slam in your face…” So he set out for a quest to look for his business Camelot.

He sits in seminars…

And he grabs materials by Corey Rudl, which change his perception about the potential of direct marketing through the internet. YES, Kern is big in direct marketing from the beginning. If I remember correctly, he still is right until now. Agree?

Long story short, he creates his success and he builds from there. People seek him for advice and service, and he partner with some famous marketers to make more profit, for both parties.

“And there was this particular seminar,” Frank said, “Where one of the attendee told me about a funny niche that he was in. And that niche is teaching parrot to talk!”

Frank was intrigued by that and he went out to do some research. After much planning and consideration, he created a product for that niche.

It was an e-book, which he paid somebody at Elance to create it for him. Since that person has credibility; an editor for certain birds magazine, Kern puts all his trust in his product.

He puts up a direct sales page for it, and drive traffic to that offer. Now, knowing how Frank work, he WOULD not trouble himself with organic traffic, as he fond of saying in another recording, “If I want traffic, I buy them.”

That business model made him good amount of money with very little upkeep; in fact, he said that the system made money almost in automatic fashion. Hey, back in those days, I am not surprise with the kind of success he enjoys with minimal effort.

And what tick Kern the most is the thought that if he had more sites like this, he will make good living with it.

And they have been that crazy promoting his previous product.

You know what, if you don’t have free traffic, you can’t make money. Really? I find that hard to believe. But many marketers want you to live by that so they can make a lot of money!

And the only way for you to get free traffic is by getting the software, and enroll into their membership site. Pretty obvious whose making real money here, right?

My take: This whole social media marketing is going into near ‘chaotic’ stage. What suppose to be a fun, and meaningful interaction with like-minded folks, is now going to be interrupted by savvy marketers, whose intention are to reach deep into your pockets, and siphon your money out.

If I were given a choice, between these two, I’ll go for the first one, the Social Profit Formula, because it’s already CLOSE! Lol!

I can save some money to take my family out, and buy mu buddies few cups of coffee. It’s still cheap here, in this part of the town. Heck! If you are down here in Kuantan, Pahang, West Malaysia, give me a shout.

Probably, it’s not wrong for big names to sell this system to you. They have made money, they have proven it, and now they are handing the whole nine-yard to you.

And like the birds in the park, you just come ‘voluntarily’ and eat from his hand.

But you see, whenever I’m facing with such offer, ‘I was overcome a mysterious urge to take a shower’, to borrow a friend’s quote.

And I’m not kidding. There’s no guarantee in making money online. Not even from experts who claim they ‘live and breathe’ this stuff. Why?

Because things keep changing. And the wisest thing you can do is to adapt to change, in your own way.

Some methods have worked for somebody, so that essentially means you got to find another that works for you. Do away with talks like ‘why reinvent the wheel’, ‘follow proven path’, ‘do what successful people do’…

…Honestly, I believe that’s just some smart ‘pre-empt’ to halt us from exploring. Imagine, what it would be if Galileo just accept the fact (so called proven) that the earth is ‘square’?

Can you relate to that?

Actually, what’s happening is, she will be talking to her friend about how he was able to work less but make more money by outsourcing the internet business to a specific region here, in South East Asia.

And believe it or not, that very country, as she mentioned, is Philippines!

But that’s not the kicker. Check out the reason for that:

• Honest
• Hard working
• Intelligent
• $300/month – I infer this as ‘cost effective’ or in laymen term, ‘cheap’
• And they think like Americans??!!! Huh?

… The last point makes me think of  ‘Black Eyed Peace’ and Subic Bay.

In the past, I wrote about how John Reese find his way here, I mean Malaysia, and thought of something different – counterfeit. And that, I guess, is the reason why we are not chosen. Lol!

And maybe that’s the reason why a 13 years old blogger can become filthy rich there (think Carlo Cab).

And probably the reason why I’m not rich, until this very day.

You know what, with my competency, intelligence, hard working ability, and good look (ehem!), I think I better make a move to Philippines.

But why there’s such a thing? Guiding married people for having extra marital affair? What are they trying to achieve?

I had a mix feeling about posting this since it can be viewed as promoting (indirectly) this idea. And I have no attention to do that.

I’m strongly against it!

Now, I’ve been married for 7 years. This figure is quite ‘young’, compared to some of you (ehem!), but I’ve came across marriage that has been ended earlier than mine.

Does this guide had anything to do with that?

I’m pretty sure it DOES NOT. But what I’m sure of is, almost all marriage that end early, had some sort of extra marital activity attached to it.

I said ALMOST because there are marriage that were just meant to end early. Call it fate, whatever, but the ‘chemistry’ was not there and separation seems to do more good than harm.

I did not say this with tongue and cheek. I believe in holding on to marriage but if that means like living in a place where the spouse gets battered daily, the husband cheats like crazy, and the whole married life was just like plain white cloth, then in mu humble opinion, it’s better to go separate ways.

I don’t encourage this. This suppose to be the LAST resort. What I’m saying is, don’t close your mind to the possibility.

And most importantly, stay AWAY from this website:

If you got ‘marriage problems’, don’t use that as excuse to go searching for guide to married affair.

Talk to the ‘right’ person. If you’re not comfortable, like it got something to do with your sexual dysfunction, talk to me. I can point point you to right way. Trust me.

Because they hate the response they get from doing it.

You see, people love to buy. Whenever they got a windfall, a joyous occasion, special even, etc. they want to spend. And spending means ‘buying’. But while they like the idea of buying, they dislike the idea of being ‘sold’ too.

Notice the difference?

Buying is ‘voluntary’. Selling, unfortunately, is not. There’s an element of influencing whether done through persuasion or manipulating involve. And that’s why certain salespeople hate the idea of making calls. They had to force themselves to do it.

And that’s why the people who are being called hate it. Why not? Salespeople hate making calls, prospects hate getting them! A clear vicious cycle.

12 years as a sales person had taught me a lot. I started with going through a period of learning how to persuade people to my side of the argument, to agree with what I’m feeding them, and to make the call to purchase.

For the first year doing that, I shared my ups and downs.

Do I like selling?

I like the outcome. The payoff was good, and could be better with clever tactics and manipulation, I’m sure of it. But at a certain point, a feeling of ‘overwhelmed’ overcome me. And I got explanation to it except it comes from what I was doing.

It become overwhelmed because I want MORE and I want it FAST…

I take it as a normal human nature. But when the outcome was below expectation, the feeling just submerged. And I got to deal with it.

Now that I had shift to selling online, at least a part of the daunting task was taken care of. And that part is meeting people.

It has been reduced to communicating through digital channel like e-mail or online chat (e.g. using Yahoo!). But the funny thing thing is, the feeling keeps coming back. And worse, it comes back more often!

Maybe ‘not meeting people’ is bad idea…

And I had little (minimal) payoff to shout about. Double whammy!

I believe I’ve come across the biggest secrets of selling online which is: people hate being sold online more than they do in real life.

Why People Hate The Word Selling Online?

Put yourself in their shoes. I’m pretending that I’m a prospect. I hate online sales people simply because:

• I can’t really see who’s selling…
• I don’t feel safe. In fact, I got scared with the news I heard about scam, con-men, etc.
• I feel I was forced to buy, purchase, swipe my card, and if I did not purchase in TIME, I was deemed LOSERS!

…And many others which I did not include since I’m afraid the word will only be colored with cursing!

But anyway, deep down I knew: there MUST be a way to get over this.

When I did my ‘offline’ selling, I come across a very powerful method that, once I knew, I never look back.

I have NOT test it online. It takes some times to ‘design’ the structure and content by which it is delivered. But I’m working to get  it done. And like the word from a mentor, “Don’t make it perfect, live with the imperfect.”

“The most important thing is to put it into action, “ she added.

And I concur.

Maybe my next post will have the title: Why people ‘want’ the word ‘selling.’ And when that happen, you know that I have already slay the ‘hate’ demon.

I have known marketers who make ‘serious’ money online and the way they get there is through plain, ole, hard work. No matter how you twist it, you need to work hard to make real money online because:

• Getting traffic requires work: writing article, writing snippet for Social Media, etc.
• Tweaking websites requires work – no doubt about this one, and…
• Building relationship with your list is WORK. Argue?

And if everything was done for you without any effort required from your side, except to swipe the card and send in the money, heck, I’ll pause and reflect.

Imagine what you’ll see when you pause and reflect…

Too Many Forecast Were Way Off

How did that happen? Inconsistent, well, most of it except for the French team which in my humble opinion does not ‘qualify’ to be in the tournament since qualifying matches!

And scrap the ‘Hand of God’ excuses…

‘Man ain’t God and God ain’t man’ — what’s there to explain.

I’m hopeful with certain teams in this year tournament. I won’t put down my forecast because it’s too early but I’m sure to write about it one way or another.
