Profit With Resale Rights: 6 Stumbling Blocks

That looks like a stumbling block; let's get over it!

That looks like a stumbling block; let's get over it!

The best thing about making profit with resale rights is that the reseller has total control over the whole deal. Unlike affiliate marketer, a reseller makes profit immediately after a sale is secured and there’s no two weeks or one month waiting period to get the commission.

This doesn’t mean that affiliate marketing is a less profitable venture than selling resale rights. It just means better control and faster profit.

It is important to note that, even with the promises of better control and faster profit, not all resellers had the same kind of experience. They might have total control but most of the time, they’re short on profit.

Why?

One of these 6 stumbling blocks to profiting from resale rights could be the answer…

Stumbling block #1 Broad match.

I used to offer a relationship resale rights product for my dating website. I thought back then that who ever go on a date will soon make more commitment. I didn’t see that actually, the resale rights products didn’t focus on my online dating visitors.

The relationship resale rights product can go either way and sure enough, I took it down after a while. A broad offer to a targeted niche doesn’t work.

Stumbling block #2 Tight competition.

This is a common problem with resale rights. If a new product was offered to the market, usually through Joint Venture or email marketing, the next thing you know, every Tom, Dick and Harry had gotten their hands on it.

For those who use this product to build their list, they didn’t hurt so much because they usually offer the product for free but for the rest who repackage and resell, they’ll find that the profit pie is just getting smaller.

Stumbling block #3 Too common.

This is just the side-kick from the previous stumbling block. It’s all too common to say, ”If you see one, you see them all.” The same product was offered on different websites with little or no customization.

Stumbling block #4 Price war.

You’ve just finished customizing your resale rights offer. With sheer enthusiasm, you upload it to your domain and started your PPC campaign. While waiting for the outcome you go to eBay. Guess what you see?

The same product at one-fifth of what you offer. This is becoming a norm to me that I always wonder when it will ever stop. Have you?

Stumbling block #5 Weak planning.

The plan is SIMPLE: upload this to the website, generate lots of traffic and wait for the money to trickling in. Sounds like a simple plan alright but a profitable one? I doubt it. If that is all it takes to make a living online selling resale rights product, according to my calculation, I should’ve been a millionaire by now!

Stumbling block #6 Wrong packages.

This is the first mistake I’ve ever made selling my resale rights products. I’ve got this four fantastic PLR products so without hesitation, I upload the sales page to one of my sub-domains and start advertising.

After a few days, when I take a second look at the offer I thought to myself: How do I tie in Network Marketing products with web traffic products? That’s when I realize I’ve made a silly mistake (PS. Check Stumbling block #1)

After sharing all this with you, maybe some of you would think that I’ve made all the money there is selling resale rights products. Well, I hope this is good news because, NO. I still didn’t make as much as I spend building my resale rights business.

There’s still a long way to go but I’m enjoying every bit of it.
